Description
The iceberg here was run around not too far outside of St Johns harbour entrance and toward the cape. We were able to go quite close and see it on the ship to get photos, circling a few times. There were quite a few icebergs that year while at the residency in May – evidence of further melting from the Greenland ice sheet. This started a years long fascination with ice and glaciers that continues in my new work as well.
While at the residency I worked on several small scale mezzotint plates (rocked ahead of time!) – this one was made with a 45 gauge rocker, and is a bit rougher.
